WIC NUTRITION SERVICES COORDINATOR
Annual Salary: $54K -$57K (DOE) Benefits: Medical, Dental, Basic Life & 401(k)
Under the direction of the Nutrition Manager, the Nutrition Services Coordinator effectively provides and oversees nutrition and breastfeeding services at the assigned local agencies and assists the Nutrition Manager with monitoring, material development, staff training and other related areas. Timely and regular attendance to work and work-related events is an essential function of this position.

- Provides on-site and telephone technical assistance to local agencies, state agency staff and health professionals to ensure compliance with federal regulations and policies and ITCA policies.
- Participates in the development of the local agency nutrition and breastfeeding plans and assists in implementation and evaluation of the plan.
- Oversees and approves food and formula special authorizations and coordinates with medical providers as appropriate.
- Trains, monitors, coaches and evaluates local agency staff providing nutrition services to clients.
- Refers high-risk clients to health and social services as needed. · Prescribes food packages to high-risk clients as appropriate. · Assesses nutrition status and provides nutrition and/or breastfeeding counseling, in-person, on the telephone and through video conferencing, to high risk clients that addresses the client’s needs.
- Completes certifications, mid-certifications, health assessments and nutrition education, in-person, on the telephone and through video conferences, for clients as needed.
- Documents assessment information, food package assignment, referrals, nutrition counseling and other information for high risk clients. · Develops, implements, monitors and oversees WIC nutrition classes provided to clients.
- Develops, identifies, and reviews information and materials for clients and staff in coordination with WIC staff.
- Participates in the review of the local agency applications.
- Monitors local WIC agencies according to federal regulations and ITCA policies and procedures; writes and reviews reports of the visits; and provides appropriate follow-up on reports.
- Writes reports, letters and other documents as required and needed and submits to WIC Nutrition Manager and WIC Director for review and approval in a timely manner.
- Effectively uses data and reports to evaluate, manage and improve nutrition services.
- Coordinates nutrition services with other internal WIC Program operations and other external partners, including both public and private organizations.
- Participates in the UPC collection of authorized WIC foods.
- Attends trainings and conferences to keep up-to-date with nutrition and breastfeeding information and uses knowledge to develop nutrition services and provide training and information to local staff.
- Performs other related duties, special projects, and reporting as assigned.

- Knowledge of federal nutrition programs and Indian tribal governments.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Explorer and ability to learn other software applications as needed.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Arizona frequently and nationally occasionally. Overnight stays are required.
Education Requirements and Experience:
Holds credentials of a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Commission on Dietetic Registration. Experience in establishing effective working relationships with federal, state, local and private partners. Experience in developing effective nutrition and breastfeeding approaches for positive interventions among clients. Requires a valid Arizona driver’s license, copy of current auto insurance, and submit to a background check.
