Empire Bakery Commissary opened in 1997 and has been a fixture in the Rocky Mount, Virginia community since relocating in 2010. We specialize in creating custom, hand-decorated cakes and desserts for major retailers. The company broke ground on a new expansion to their current facility in 2019 and business has been growing exponentially since that time.

Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Primary Work Location: Commissary
Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (training 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
Pay: $18.00
Job Summary
Plans, organizes and monitors the receiving and shipping of all frozen materials and products. Manages paperwork flow of all shipments inbound and outbound. This position requires working in a freezer environment of -10 degrees. Demonstrate respect, honesty, inclusion, and safety.
Essential Job Duties:

Apply receipt date labels to incoming products

Responsible for inspection checks of inbound/outbound material and completing inbound/outbound freight report and computer entries.

Responsible for loading/unloading of inbound/outbound shipments and staging of equipment.

Responsible for accurately recording date codes on the load sheet.

Verifying all truck drivers sign the guest log book.

Responsible for rotation of frozen goods (finished products and raw materials).

Setting up production lines daily with next day’s cake pull.

Assures proper sanitation and organization of dock and freezer area.

Responsible for reporting any issues that impact food safety or quality

Follow company safety, GMP, behavioral rules, & other policies in the employee handbook.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of warehouse activities and tasks
-
Good verbal and written communication skills
-
Working knowledge of inventory control and materials management
-
Experience working in a warehouse environment

Fork Lift Operator license required
-
RF Handheld Scanner experience
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently

Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching intermittently, use of hands and arms
