Responsibilities:
Start your day at 8:00 am at the FedEx terminal, ready to assist drivers with pre-trip inspections. After dispatch, the mechanics will stay back and work on trucks that are held back for any reason and also conduct preventative maintenance. Tools and a tool box will be provided by the company. The drivers can contact the mechanic for any problems and will be required to provide roadside assistance. Trucks must stay compliant to Cox Logistics, DOT, and FedEx Standards. Saturdays will be required since that is when most trucks are available for inspections. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, mechanics will be required to work 6 days for peak season. Additional Responsibilities:
Every mechanic and manager is a driver first. The delivery of the packages that come in day to day are the #1 priority of the company. Mechanics will be trained like any other driver to become proficient in delivering. Delivering requires the individual to pass a DOT physical, MVR and background check and stay within FedEx and DOT standards. Able to move 150 lb packages alone with the assist of a package dolly. Mechanics are trained to assist drivers with non-mechanic questions.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a Fleet Mechanic or similar role
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting electrical systems
- Ability to use hand tools effectively
- Capability to perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary
- Knowledge of shocks, struts, and wheel alignment
