As a Direct Support Professional, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a young man with a desired goal of communicating feelings and desires independently. This young man needs support with ADLs, social interactions, and preferred activities. Staff will be involved in his daily life providing assistance with nutrition, school work, and other activities of his daily living. Staff will also be helping him develop and reinforce coping skills, all while guiding him through challenging situations with patience and understanding. As staff will be working closely with the family, you will ensure his health and safety during school breaks and support his overall well-being. You will have the chance to teach him healthy lifestyle habits, exercise and nutrition, and coping techniques which will contribute to his independence.
Seasonal Full time and Part time hours:
- 10am-6pm (flexible) Monday through Friday weekends included if wanted.
- Starting pay of $25.82/hr
- Only for the month of August
Experienced Staff will:
- Be responsible for providing support to the individual needs ensuring his safety, welfare, and comfort at all times.
- Assist with ADLs
- Communicate feelings and desires independently
- Establishing and maintaining a routine
- Going out into the community
- Promoting choice and control
Requirements:
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have at least 2 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work or Gerontology
