Job Summary
The Product Owners’ main tasks will include gathering detailed requirements, analysis, documenting processes, assigning projects to developers, and performing some user acceptance testing. To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.
Role and Responsibilities
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules, and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:
- Working closely with software development teams on current deliverables
- Working with various stakeholders to gather requirements including the executive team
- Document detailed requirements for the development team (user stories)
- Maintain and prioritize the team’s backlog
- Provide progress updates and demos to stakeholders and executives
- Answer business questions that the development team may have
- Expected to attend Product Owner training and acquire certification
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of (3) years of experience in back-end business systems (e.g. systems enhancements, testing and analyzing systems, etc.)
- Ability to lead a scrum team working in Agile methodology
- Experience with requirement elicitation and project documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
- Experience with project delivery, managing competing priorities, and working to solve business problems with high complexity
- Proficient with Microsoft products and other applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Azure Dev Ops, Mural, etc.)
Physical Demands
While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
Work Environment
The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
