Position Summary
Mortgage Loan Clerk act as a support primarily to the Loan Coordinator, Loan Processors and the Mortgage Department in general performing related work and duties as assigned including loan servicing. Loan servicing encompasses a variety of administrative and clerical duties to service residential, commercial and consumer loans beginning after origination and throughout the life of the loans.
Mortgage Loan Clerk position requires high customer contact, including assisting with telephone coverage of the Bank's main customer service telephone line and the reception. Primary responsibilities comprise of providing excellent customer service through oral and written communication; maintain detailed and accurate loan files, accurately processing loan transactions, perform quality control reviews of new loans and monitoring/managing loan servicing tracking items such as property owner's insurance and real estate taxes, post-closing documents and Mortgage/ Note cancellations after loan payoffs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Cover phone calls and customer meetings as necessary and keep supervisors informed of all activities within the department.
- Process loan payments, pay-offs, loan maintenance and disbursements for residential, commercial, and consumer loans.
- Monitor/manage the coverage and payment of property owner's insurance, real estate taxes and flood insurance
- Set-up new loans, scan loan files and perform quality control functions
- Provide assistance to Bank customers relating to loan details, credit reporting, escrow analysis or with any other loan servicing functions as needed.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
- Actively participate in training programs to maintain and acquire additional job knowledge and skills.
- Promote the Bank’s products and services.
- Support the Bank’s strong relationship banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.
- Build and maintain positive relations with customers, potential customers and co-workers.
- Perform as a team member in allocating and coordinating the work flow.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of the department and the bank objectives and goals.
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with all department and bank policies, procedures and regulations.
- Perform other related work and duties as assigned

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & under pressure as needed.
- The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Bank’s exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Banking or loan servicing experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
- Detail orientated with excellent organizational and follow up skills
