Highlands Family Medicine is an independent and entrepreneurial-minded primary care office consisting of 1 physician and 3 physician assistants seeking to add a third medical receptionist to the team. Our practice keeps the patient at the heart of all we do, creating a medial home where care and people come first.
Position Summary:
A medical receptionist's role is vital when it comes to the transactions between patients and medical providers. It involves coordinating with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective business operations on a day-to-day basis, and ensuring exceptional customer service. Medical receptionists carry out unique front desk duties and are important for maintaining a strong provider-patient relationship and promoting patient satisfaction all throughout the clinic.
Position Responsibilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, other medical professionals, and office personnel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy/knowledge, and usability of EMR system (eClinicalWorks)
- Strong teamwork skills
- Answering phone calls, taking messages (such as prescription requests), and relaying information to peers in the most specific, but concise way possible
- Accurate documentation (demographic data and medical history)
- Appointment scheduling (office visits, immunizations, procedures)
- Patient intake
- Health insurance verification
- Processing patient payments
- Organizing the front office/waiting room
- Understanding of health and safety standards in the medical industry
- Communicating with patients in a timely manner
- Treating patients with courtesy and consideration
- Scanning and faxing documents or medical records

- Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be able to meet the essential functions of the job
Preferred qualifications:
- 1+ years of clinic experience
- Communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- MS Office: Excel, Power Point, word, Outlook
- Electronic Medical Record – eClinicalWorks experience preferred
- Patient care skills
Salary & Benefits
The hiring rate for this position begins at $17.00 to $20.00 per hour.
