Hospice of the East Bay (HEB) is a community-based hospice and palliative care program providing services in the home and at our six-bed Hospice facility for terminally ill patients and those in need of palliative care. Care is given to patients and families by an interdisciplinary group. Bereavement care is provided to the family for a minimum of one year after the death. Hospice and palliative care offer a sponsored care program to provide services regardless of patient’s ability to pay.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Program Manager, a Volunteer Program Resource Specialist is responsible for carrying out the overall objectives of the HEB Volunteer Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Creates volunteer reports, to include statistics, turnover, growth, compliance, and other topics as assigned.

Coordinates utilization of social media to recruit and promote volunteers with Communications Department.

Identifies areas for improvement in procedures, processes, and systems within department; with approval of Program Manager, develops new or redesigns current processes and/or best practices to achieve the desired improvement; creates systems to monitor ongoing effectiveness of these processes; trains and coaches department members and selected volunteers on new procedures and processes.

Serves as lead for projects such as annual volunteer events, communications, and acknowledgments.

Oversees assigned volunteer programs; alters program as required; submits data to Volunteer Manager and others as assigned.

Creates training modules for volunteer software tools (examples: use of texting, timesheet submission, assignment availability); trains staff and selected volunteers to train all volunteers.

Functions as contributor in updating new volunteer training both in content and delivery mode.

Trains department staff and selected volunteers on navigating agency and department software

Investigates new programs to expand volunteer services; presents findings to Program Manager

Attends Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings as a representative of the Volunteer Department.

Maintains communication with all Volunteers via emails, notes, phone support, to assure that they remain connected to HEB, are informed of training opportunities, and feel appreciated for their contributions.

Assists in maintaining all Volunteer personnel and medical records utilizing AllDocs system as assigned.

Assists with Patient Support, Bereavement, and Administrative assignments, as necessary.

Contributes to and participates in monthly volunteer enrichment meetings.

Provides support to Volunteer Department staff, as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned/requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-
BA strongly preferred.
-
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field.

Health Care or Hospice experience preferred.

Experience as a Volunteer or in working with Volunteers preferred.

Experience with training preferred.

Must possess proven ability to create videos for training, enrichment, and appreciation
-
Must have proven ability to utilize social media platforms in coordination with HEB Communications Department

Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (i.e., MS Outlook, and Word).

Must possess proven ability to produce Excel and other reports from a variety of data sources.

Must possess proven ability to create clear and concise presentations using PowerPoint or similar software.
