Patrols designated areas of the city to enforce parking laws and ordinances
- Issues tickets for parking violations
- Dispenses information to the general public regarding street directions, private and public facilities, etc.
- Explains parking regulations to citizens as needed
- Performs task of school crossing guard on a relief basis
- Performs various clerical and matron duties as required
- Performs other duties as assigned by competent authority
- Must have working knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of various private and public facilities and the location of streets
- Must have knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances and laws
- Must have elementary knowledge of simple mathematics
- Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
- Must be in physical condition to be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions
- Must be able to prepare and maintain simple records
- Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, fellow workers, and the general public
Must have a valid Illinois drivers license.
Schedule
Monday through Friday from 1pm to 5pm. with some weekend days a month required.
Hours during training 7 am to 11 am.
Approximately 20 hours a week
