Job Description Position Title:
Barn Manager
Position Purpose:
Responsible for the daily care, feeding & health of every horse. Responsible for the initial training of new barn staff & ongoing training of current staff. Responsible for maintaining the facility in working order (detailed below).
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Executive Director
Works closely with Program Director and Instructors
Primary Duties:
Manage the general health & welfare of all horses each day; determine feeding specifics for each horse, schedule and manage veterinarian visits, manage horse files
Carry out and communicate horse treatments, horse clipping, medications & rehabilitation as directed by veterinarian and farriers
Hire, train, supervise, and schedule the barn staff
Coordinate and communicate with staff on specific horse needs and schedule
Procure barn necessities including hay, shavings, supplements, and supplies
Boarders: Respond to boarder inquiries, share the weekly schedule, communicate on any additional activities/facility work, schedule and manage veterinarian and farrier appointments
Repair facility as needed and manage contractors performing repairs and maintenance
Organize special facility projects
Hurricane Evacuation; manage the plan and checklist, communicate to Boarders and staff, manage shipper and contacts on evacuation site, manage staff evacuating with the horses
Drag the pastures at least once a week
Clean stalls and spread manure daily
Water and drag covered arena footing three times/week
Attend staff and other meetings as necessary
Make up horse supplement boxes each week
Support events and fundraising efforts
Training & Education Preferred:
Extensive experience caring for horses and managing a stable of 10 or more horses
Experience managing and training part-time barn staff
Prior Experience Preferred
Experience in a leadership position, training and supervising individuals

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
