POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible scheduling patient appointments, facilitating physicians work schedules with respect to clinic hours, facilitating the efficient and smooth operation of the department by completing patient registration, and patient referrals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
Schedules patients for orthopedic surgery.
Works with physician on preferences for surgeries and pre-Operative testing.
Schedules Pre-Operative appointments.
Schedules Post-Operative appointments.
Maintains physical surgery schedule.
Makes appropriate arrangements for patients’ surgeries.
Participates in patient education as needed.
Responds to patient's surgical questions.
Other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
High School Diploma, or equivalent
Experience in a health care setting
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and respond to different situations and able to communicate appropriately.
Skills in establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with patients, staff, and other medical office personnel.
Ability to learn of have knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
Ability to perform in high volume, multi-task environment.
Knowledge in performing pre-authorizations
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, typing, moussing, and reading paper and electronic documents
Ability to file and track documents and data, both in written and electronic form
Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
On occasion, some early, late and overtime hours may be required
Requires long periods of sitting and computer usage.
