Position Description:
Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO)
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Chief Financial Officer works as part of the Finance team to assist the CFO with financial operations. The Assistant Chief Financial Officer serves as the immediate aide of the Chief Financial Officer in carrying out financial activities within the Finance Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconciles daily cash transactions to bank accounts;
- Performs daily cash balance verifications for bank accounts;
- Performs research to ensure that insurance payments, daily deposits, and related transactions are complete and accurate and enters financial transactions into the financial reporting system;
- Verifies petty cash and daily deposits and performs routine internal inspections to ensure that all cash is accounted for pertinent to each FHC clinic location;
- Assists the CFO with preparing grant reimbursement requests;
- Assists the CFO with monitoring budgets for grant programs;
- Assists with mail deposits and monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts;
- Assists the CFO with reconciling and retrieving documentation for financial audits and other reviews;
- Monitors outstanding accounts payable balances against daily cash balances;
- Attends meetings and other functions, as required to assist the CFO;
- Performs any other duties necessary to carry out the functions of the Finance Department and to support the operations of FHC.
Reporting Relationship:
The Assistant Chief Financial Officer reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Chief Financial Officer.
Evaluation:
The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Chief Financial Officer. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position, plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Formal evaluation will normally be performed annually, but may be initiated at other times by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related discipline with at least three years of relevant experience working in finance;
- Experience with operational aspects of state and/or federal grant programs is a plus;
- Possesses effective communication skills and the ability to work well with others;
- Must maintain confidentiality;
- Must be able to competently use software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Has experience supervising staff and financial processes;
- Follows instructions of the CFO to complete daily tasks, as assigned; and
- Has demonstrated competency to perform data analysis and cash reconciliation.

Status:
With regard to the Fair Labor Standards Act, this is an exempt position.

Salary:
The salary for this position is determined by the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with FHC's policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors, and with consideration for the unique qualifications of the candidate.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
