- Issues licenses/permits for food establishments and onsite sewer systems.
- Reviews plans and specifications for land development, subsurface sewage systems, and food establishments for compliance with applicable laws.
- Evaluates environmental health conditions through inspections, surveys, and investigations of food establishments, onsite sewer systems, and land development for compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
- Evaluates inspectional findings, prepares written and oral reports of findings and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Consults with business proprietors regarding health regulations.
- Prepares documentation for possible legal action.
- Ability to adjust schedule to respond to public health concerns or emergencies.
- Promotes public awareness of environmental laws, regulations, and standards through oral presentations and news releases.
- Collaborates with customers to problem solve and find meaningful solutions
- Provides high quality customer service in person and over the phone.
- Provides support and team coverage to peers.
- Promotes a respectful and collaborative workplace.
- Follows department and organizational values

Minimum Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of Environmental Health Practices
- Must be eligible to sit for REHS/RS credential examination by having a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD with 30 semester hours in basic science coursework and credit for a college level Math or Statistics class. - Licensure Requirement: Licensed in Idaho as an Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist Trainee or obtain possession of a temporary permit (I.C. 54-2408)
- Valid driver's license.
