We are seeking to add highly-motivated, entry-to-mid level staff Engineers and Geologists to our team of multi-disciplinary civil and geo-professionals. The individual will have knowledge in the behavior of soils and subsurface geology. Experience and knowledge of forensic analysis of the interaction of the subgrade with building and structural components relating to residential, commercial, and industrial facilities is a plus. Material types investigated may include, but are not limited to, soil, bedrock, concrete, aggregates, asphalt, masonry, wood and metals.
Responsibilities and Duties include:
- Field work to document as-built conditions and extent of damage as a result of natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) and/or human induced origins (design and construction errors/omissions). Natural events can include large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
- Field work to perform floor level surveys and subsurface evaluations (i.e., drilling, excavation, and/or logging of soil borings and test pits). Performance of subsurface evaluations may require performing physical labor.
- Evaluate information obtained during the aforementioned field work, as well as other available documents, in order to opine on the effect of the subsurface on the subject structure. The documents to evaluate may include, but are not limited to, building codes, construction contracts, construction plans/drawings, construction documentation, and geotechnical evaluations performed by other experts.
- Communicate with clients and possibly other consulting firms or companies (as needed).
- Write detailed reports regarding Civil/Geotechnical observations and findings.
- Willing to travel, as needed, on short notice at times.
Education and Experience requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Geology. Experience working at other civil and/or geotechnical firms and/or a License as a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of Geotechnical/Geological Engineering concepts, principles and practices.
- Knowledge of multiple types of construction is a plus.
- Civil and/or geotechnical field experience is a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Attentiveness to detail.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer and have a good driving record.
