Designs, initiates and implements a comprehensive CPAP program to serve outpatient men and women, physicians, and communities. Serves as a respiratory consultant to nursing staff, clients, other consultants, and other health care professionals. Manages home respiratory services within established budget for each fiscal year. Works with adolescent and adult men and women diagnosed with sleep apnea.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assumes responsibility for the day to day operation of the service.

Assists Department Director in the preparation of the annual operational and capital budgets as they relate to the CPAP program.

Consults with Director on administrative, operational, and clinical matters on a regular basis. Provides director with written objectives and monthly reports of activity to validate the effectiveness of the program.

Services as a resource and professional role model by providing clinical expertise. Interprets and enforces department philosophy, policies, and procedures, and established standards of care and practice.

Serves as a communication liaison between patients, families, staff, and physicians.

Assists in marketing efforts as requested by the Sleep Center and Home Care Services.

Assists in Quality Improvement activities as they relate to the CPAP program and home respiratory care.

Assumes responsibility for updating CPAP policy and procedure manuals, performing data collection and statistical analysis, and auditing reports.

Maintains familiarity with a variety of medical problems, surgical procedures, and diagnostic studies, and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to area.

Assists Director with hiring, training, evaluating and administering disciplinary action up to and including termination. Schedules and assigns staff according to Home Care Services and Sleep Center needs.

Provides direct patient care in the Sleep Center, which includes assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Follows physician’s written and verbal orders which may include CPAP, bilevel, and heated humidification therapy in a safe and timely manner.

Implements and documents patient/family teaching as part of the plan of care.

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury- accident to Director.

Inventories, processes, and orders departmental supplies.
