Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Assistant / Caregiver. As a Patient Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to patients in a residential home setting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for patient care and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming incontinent residents.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, check blood sugar levels.
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Assist with patient transfers and mobility with DME medical equipment wheelchair and walker
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms & common areas including mopping & sweeping
- Follow proper aseptic techniques to prevent infection ising disinfection products
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff members
- Document patient information accurately and timely using medical office software or progress notes.
- Provide assistance with laundry & dishes in residential.
Skills:
- Experience working in a hospital or medical setting
- Knowledge of working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to provide compassionate care
- Proficient in caregiving techniques, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Familiarity with aseptic technique to ensure patient safety
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and protocols
- Understanding of critical care practices and emergency response procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology to accurately communicate with healthcare professionals
- Experience using medical office software, such as Cerner, for documentation purposes
- Ability to assist with DME setup and maintenance
