Gordon School is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Art Teacher to inspire and nurture the creative abilities of our students, ranging from 3 months to 6th grade. This role involves teaching students with varied exceptionalities and integrating art with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The ideal candidate will foster a love for art and support each student's individual artistic journey through diverse mediums and techniques. This is facilitated through the support of School Directors.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field
- Two years’ teaching experience with early childhood and elementary students.
- Strong understanding of diverse artistic techniques and mediums.
- Experience working with students with varied exceptionalities.
- Ability to develop and implement interdisciplinary projects that integrate art with STEAM.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and parents.
- Passion for fostering creativity and supporting the artistic growth of all students.
- Must abide by the school employee handbook.
Functions
- Plan, develop and implement art and art history curriculum to meet learning goals
- Write lesson plans for multiple grade levels that are developmentally appropriate
- Lead classes with a combination of lectures and hands-on practice
- Help students improve their artwork
- Assess student projects with their skill level and style in mind
- Manage a classroom effectively and maintain a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents all members of the Gordon School and Center for Jewish Life at Beth David, and supporting agencies.
- Support the philosophy and vision of the Gordon School and Center for Jewish Life at Beth David.
+General Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver art lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach students about various art techniques, styles, and mediums.
- Encourage creativity and self-expression in students through art projects and assignments.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate with parents about their child's progress.
- Create a safe and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and creativity.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that engages students in creative expression and visual arts.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate students with varied exceptionalities, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with Gordon School Directors to plan and execute individual and group art projects for special school events.
- Integrate art with STEAM education, promoting interdisciplinary learning and innovation.
- Stay up-to-date with new art techniques, technologies, and trends to enhance teaching methods and student learning.
- Participate in school-wide events and activities, such as art shows, exhibitions, and performances.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
+ Schedule
This position is a contracted hourly position. Most of the hours required to work are from 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:30am-2:45pm on Friday. This position requires flexibility to stay late and arrive early or work weekends during for special events.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
