The Technical Designer is responsible for the fitting of selected categories within a value-driven, fast-fashion business model. As the liaison between production, merchandising and vendors, this position collaborates with internal and external partners to achieve aesthetic and functional vision within the allotted timeframe. The success of this role depends on transparency, speed, and alignment across teams - including the ability to advocate for our customers in all decisions by building trust and loyalty through standardization, inclusivity, value, and product assurance.
In summary, this position drives product integrity and speed to market while collaborating with multiple business partners.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with buyers and designers on fit intent and lead weekly model fittings by transforming product execution and resolving fit and quality issues.

Take detailed notes during fitting and assemble the fit report while providing complete and accurate solutions to factory.

Collaborate with vendors on fit solutions, leveraging their expertise to help drive speed and troubleshooting resolutions.

Issue grading for approved styles and maintain proportions throughout the size-range.

Identify new spec standards based on trend influences and evolve existing standards in tune with best sellers and customer feedback.

Manage TNA to ensure deadlines and deliveries are met - eliminating roadblocks.

Build partnerships by communicating effectively, being proactive, providing feedback, following up, and enforcing accountability.

Input style status and supporting documentation into the product tracking tool for transparency across departments.

Attend fit model castings and maintain the measurement profile for brand consistency.

Participate in vendor meetings, providing feedback on performance and collaborating on efficiencies to improve speed to market.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Fashion with 3-5 years’ relevant experience in Technical Design.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications. Experience with PLM is a plus.

Professionally effective written and verbal communication with internal / external teams, including the ability to assemble fit reports that translate effortlessly into foreign languages with strong comprehension.

Proficient with leading model fittings, recognizing and resolving fit issues, measuring, creating specification sheets, and grading.

Patternmaking experience is highly valued though not essential.

Knowledge of different fabrications, apparel assembly, and technical terminology.

Experience with multiple apparel product categories.

Competition and trend awareness with an aesthetic sense and a good eye for proportions and scale.

Problem solving skills with ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present information in a concise, efficient, and easily understood manner.

ADDITIONAL DATA:
The salary range for this position is $70,000- $85,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to position offered and work experience. In addition to your salary, Forever 21, and its affiliated brands, offers a benefits package, including 401(k) plan, overtime pay, flexible work schedule and a generous employee discount program (all benefits are based on eligibility).
