Our client’s need and welcome change daily – this is why we’re looking for cross functional
CFO’s and controllers like yourself. The Colorado team of CFO selections is seeking experienced, CFO’s and controllers to provide interim, project-based, and/or part-time services to organizations based in the greater Denver area. We are specifically recruiting for finance professionals across all industries, including Not-for-Profit.
At the core, our CFO’s and Controllers help create and sustain business functions that will best serve our clients in its entirety.
What You’ll Do:
Our consultants act as the outsourced CFOs and Controllers for our clients, often on a part-time basis. They serve as trusted partners and advisers to our clients in a variety of areas, including growth strategies, cash flow management, operating best practices, bank and investor relations, and compliance strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing all activities of client’s financial operations for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial information and analysis, cash forecasting and management, strategic, operational, and tactical planning and counsel to clients’ senior management, business modeling, forecasting, metrics, budgeting, and financial support of managers and operating division of clients.
Ideal candidates must have a proven background in strategic leadership and have hands-on experience in building models, writing reports, preparing presentations, and functioning as an active member on a senior leadership team.
For CFOs: Responsibilities include overseeing all activities of clients’ financial operations for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial information and analysis, cash forecasting and management, strategic, operational, and tactical planning and counsel to clients’ senior management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial support of managers and operating divisions of clients. Process improvement, application of technology, and client staff assessments are part of almost every engagement. Ideal candidates must have strong Director of Finance/ VP Finance/CFO background at small to medium sized firms. This is hands-on: build the model, write the report, prepare the presentation, and function as an active member of clients’ senior team.
CFO Experience and Education Requirements:
BS Degree in Accounting / Finance, advanced degree or other recognized financial
certifications preferred
20 years of total experience with at least 10 years at a senior finance level in any
industry, including not-for-profit.
Strong accounting experience and comfort with Colorado tax law is a plus
Recent experience working with a variety of tools and software systems
Past experience working as a 1099 consultant is preferred
Experience as primary interface with external CPA firms, banks, legal, and other
professional service providers
Risk management experience is a plus
Business operational experience outside of finance is preferred, with excellent
written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to manage multiple clients
Must embrace a highly flexible and independent work life balance
For Controllers:
Responsibilities include overseeing all activities of an accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports. Including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, year-end audit preparation, quarterly forecasting, and annual budgets. Ideal candidate must have strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal accounting controls and payroll working knowledge.
Controller Experience and Education Requirements:
BS Degree in Accounting / Finance, CPA Preferred
15+ years of Controller experience in Construction, Not-for-Profit, and Real Estate/Property Development.
Public accounting experience is preferred
Supervisory experience
Business and operations focus, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to manage multiple clients
Demonstrated thorough command of all basic accounting principles through financial
statement preparation and reporting
QuickBooks and other small to medium sized accounting systems experience a plus
Nonprofit focus should include: Substantial experience in grant reporting, board/audit committee governance, reporting, and support, payout planning, Direct and indirect expense allocations, Reporting and tracking of multiple funds and restrictions within an organization, Tax preparation including forms 990, 990PF, 990-T, and federal excise taxes, Government contract reporting, and coordination of audits. Donor management systems experience a plus.
