Job Purpose
Provide counseling to individuals with a substance use disorder in a residential and/or outpatient setting. Facilitate an individual’s treatment progress while guiding them through each phase of their substance use disorder treatment.
Qualifications

Possess a minimum of a High School diploma or HiSet certificate.

Either possess or have the ability to obtain the MAADC I credential within the first three months of employment.

Ability to progress through Associate Counselor Career Ladder and attain MAADC II by the end of second year of employment.

Ability to pass CRADC exam and attain CRADC certification by the end of the fourth year of employment.
Core Job Duties

Provide services within the 4 performance domains (Screening, Assessment & Engagement; Counseling; Treatment Planning, Collaboration & Referral; Professional, Ethical Responsibilities).

Provide Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, and Group Education as scheduled.

To Advocate for Person(s) served on a case and community level.

Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment team staffing meetings.

Represent the agency in a caring and professional manner.

Demonstrates unconditional positive regard towards person(s) served.

Maintains a solution focused attitude. Ø Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.

Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.

Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.

Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
