Job Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on trucks and/or trailers
- Inspect various types of trucks and/or trailers, including but not limited to DOT Inspections to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively and safely
- Use different tools and equipment, such as diagnostic equipment, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, hoists and jacks to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions
- Perform regular diagnostic tests, perform minor and major repairs on engine and drivetrain. Service brake systems, wheel bearings, steering mechanisms, air condition - heating systems and hydraulic systems
- Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on truck and/or trailer
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment or parts regularly
- Must have own tools
- Must be comfortable with working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
- Willing to perform field service during summer and winter seasons, work after hours and on weekends when necessary
Preferred
- Experience working with diagnostic computers
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic
- CDL (Class A) but not required
