Summary:
Reporting to the Buckeye Block Sales Manager, the Buckeye Yard is responsible for managing the day to day loading, unloading, inventory and maintenance tasks for the Yard Department. They are to ensure their team is following all company safety policies and department guidelines, and delivering on environmental health and safety at all times.
The Buckeye Yard must be an effective communicator while enhancing the work environment and supporting the company’s values. They will display problem-solving skills and make decisions with a solid understanding of inventory control.
Responsibilities
· Possess thorough knowledge of company’s safety policies and procedures and implement with all yard employees.
· Lead, develop, and motivate team while ensuring quality packaging and label accuracy for all material to be shipped.
· Interact with all departments to satisfy dispatch needs in a timely manner.
· Receive and store bulk materials properly.
· Organize and maintain cleanliness of yard.
· Prepare and store items to be shipped in staging area to be inspected before loading onto a truck.
· Perform QC checks on all material before it is loaded onto a truck to be shipped out.
· Communicate all major quality failures on material in inventory to Plant Superintendent immediately.
· Aid the Plant Superintendent with enforcing company policies with yard personnel
· Ensure yard personnel carry out the required inventory transaction steps when moving inventory from one location to another.
· Possess ability to conduct safety huddles and trainings for all team members.
· Carry out weekly safety huddles for all team members.
· Possess ability to conduct Safety Walks when required.
· Possess ability to train and develop yard employees.
· Possess ability to develop and manage training plans for yard employees.
· Possess ability to assess yard employees and measure their skills on tasks performed during on the job training.
· Initiate and foster cooperation, team work, and communication within yard department.
· Possess ability to operate forklift and front loader.
· Ensure yard personnel are utilizing their time effectively.
· Ensure yar personnel submit all end of shift paperwork on time.
· Posses ability to make inventory transactions using company’s inventory tracking software
· Possess ability to plan and coordinate special projects.
· Participate in coordination of special projects.
· Possess the ability to read, analyze, interpret and explain (orally and in writing) documents and systems required by the duties of this position.
· Bilingual Preferred: English/Spanish
· Possess ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess the ability to calculate, rates, ratios, and percentages
· Possess good computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Demonstrate verbal, coaching, training and influencing skills. Action oriented, self-starting, analytical and strategic thinking.
· Possesses skills in relationship building, program development, and have ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing tasks.
· Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action Experience desired.
· Maintains self-accountability and organization with an ability to influence peers and direct reports.
