Avid Systems is seeking a Financial and Accounting Data Analyst to support the District of Columbia Public Services Commission.
We are seeking a Financial and Accounting Data Analyst. The temporary contractor we are seeking must have the capabilities to perform the following:
- Knowledge of introductory statistical, accounting, budget, economic principles, and techniques. Skill in applying complex fact-finding, analytical, and problem-solving methods and techniques to identify interrelated program problems, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action or solutions to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
- High-level skills in oral and written communications to prepare letters, emails, reports, charts, and graphs, which often require utilizing most of the advanced features in Microsoft Word to create Word documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and database files, including merging, importing, and exporting, calculating, and publishing.
- Plans, develops and conducts program analyses of substantial scale and impact concerning all aspects of current or projected operating programs for actual or potential effectiveness in achieving planned goals and objectives.
- Assists with updating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets.
- Assists with reviewing all relevant data and calculations listed in the Assessment Surveys, Notices of Proposed Assessments, etc., to ensure the information in the Excel spreadsheet is current and accurate.
- Maintain and update various spreadsheets by utilizing the Commission's electronic docketing system, eDocket, to track all updates and changes of revenue, staff, contact information, etc., submitted by companies.
- Create various databases to track specific data.
- Perform various database queries to identify specific data and make calculations.
- Ability to analyze data and any assignment for errors or inaccuracies.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
In addition, the applicant must have advanced skills in accounting and financial management, as well as oral and written communications to prepare letters, emails, reports, charts, and graphs. The applicant will have to complete tasks requiring using most of the advanced features in Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to create Word documents, presentations, and financial spreadsheets. Advanced skills are also needed to manage financial spreadsheets database files, including merging, importing, exporting, calculating, and publishing.
The applicant must be able to take detailed notes, ask relevant questions when assigned, and work independently to produce a sound work product after receiving work assignments. The applicant must also have the ability to reach logical and accurate conclusions based on information, instructions, and data. And explain and demonstrate the conclusion(s) presented.
*Note: The position is remote three days per week & in-office two days per week
