Plastikon Healthcare is looking for a Plant Controller responsible for all accounting and finance activities at the Kansas site. The facility is a leading-edge contract manufacturer in the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical space with 125+ employees growing to 175+ in the near future. This role will report to the CFO based at the Corporate HQ location in California and will be a key member of the Site Executive Leadership Team. This is a hands-on leadership role involved in all aspects of Plant Accounting. This person will initially 2 people reporting into this role to expand with the business. The company performs contract manufacturing of products for Medical Device and Pharma industry requiring extensive cost accounting experience.
Position Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting:
- Responsible for oversight of the entire accounting function for the plant: including cash management, AR/AP, inventory, capital assets, tooling, intercompany transactions, and other related accruals.
- Lead the month end process and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Approve all standard and nonstandard journal entries.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reviews and reconciliations.
- Monitor, approve and analyze plant spending, capital and tooling projects and working capital management.
Cost Accounting:
- Ensure accuracy of costs and inventory transactions
- Review inventory transactions, compare actual to standard costs and resolve any discrepancies identified.
- Perform a yearly BOM (bill of material) review and update standard cost according to the budget for overhead, direct labor, material etc.
- Generate new bill of material for program launches in the ERP system (IQMS).
- Process and approve any inventory adjustments need for plant (Cycles & Scrap).
Management Accounting:
- Prepare monthly forecasts and perform local financial analysis for plant management.
- Complete financial package and bridge analysis for monthly corporate management reviews.
- Complete monthly plant performance KPI’s and review with management.
- Lead the annual budgeting process involving various departmental managers in the development of manpower and controllable spend budgets to encourage accountability and ownership.
Continuous Improvements:
- Support CI initiatives, ensuring projects are defined with clear financial objectives and results are tracked and reported accordingly.
- Assist plant management in decision making process that allows for profit maximization.
- Work closely with all departmental heads to identify inefficiencies and potential cost savings initiatives including freight cost savings, improvements in inventory management, labor & scrap reductions, etc.
Internal Controls and Audit requirements:
- Coordinate & support internal and external auditors for annual and quarterly audits. Address any findings promptly and put corrective actions in place.
- Identify deficiencies in controls and assist with strengthening existing controls.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate financial policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CMA/CGA designation or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years related experience in high-volume manufacturing.
- Controller experience in manufacturing with solid background in cost accounting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience with direct reports.
- Clear and concise communicator who can articulate to Senior Management as well as manufacturing personnel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Oracle, IQMS experience preferred.
Candidate Nice to Have:
- Experience in FDA regulated Industry, specifically Pharma or Medical Device Industry
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Required reading, writing, and speaking fluently in English.
