Coordinator, OR Scheduling
Full-Time
Overview:
Manages the OR time & coordinates all activities regarding scheduling surgical cases. Schedules all elective surgeries in advance for Perioperative Service. Acts in accordance with the protocols established and goals of the Nursing Division. Enters and maintains information in scheduling module of operating room information system. Distributes OR schedules to areas as required. Ensures confidentiality of data.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Refers conflicts and procedural questions to Patient Care Director, Systems Administrator or Assistant Vice President.

Ensures all surgeries are scheduled accurately by reviewing all scheduled cases before finalizing the schedule.

Maintains current file of surgeon privileges for reference in booking procedures.

Fosters open communication between Perioperative Services and Physician Office staff.

Provides consultation to nursing personnel in production of schedule.

Attends applicable and required educational programs in the Hospital and the department.

Participates in QA/PI projects applicable/relevant to area.

Maintains current file of surgeon privileges for reference in booking procedures.

Manages open or unused OR Time in accordance with OR Block Time Management Policy.

Provides confirmation of scheduled surgery to MD offices.

Reconciles all signed Admit orders to entries in the OR Scheduling System to make sure no modifications were made.

Reviews requests for all revised orders and re-schedule, as necessary.

Reviews requests for rescheduled orders (in MMF pending actions section) including requested dates and times and reason(s) for reschedule and then reschedules case, as applicable.

Reviews cancellation requests including reason(s) for cancellation and cancel case, as applicable.

Maintains awareness of instruments and equipment (resource) limitations of department.

Communicates special requests for "allografts", special equipment, instruments, etc. to Materials Management, Central Sterile Department, etc.

Refers conflicts and procedural resource questions to Patient Care Director or Assistant Vice President, Perioperative Services.

Maintains confidentiality of memoranda, computerized management reports and patient and personnel information.

Maintains dependable presence during operational hours, and collaborates with other schedulers for necessary coverage.

Prepares daily OR schedule, checks for accuracy and completeness.

Maintains log of surgeon time away.

Maintains scheduling daily forecast records.

Identifies/communicates changes that need to be made to the procedure file, surgeon file to the Clinical Information Systems Manager.

For modifications confirmed with MD office, revises applicable surgery data in OR Schedule.

Releases unused surgeon block time and communicates release to surgeon's office staff.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses (Required)

Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)

1 Year minimum experience (Required)

Knowledge of Basic Anatomy

Other Requirements: #LI-Onsite Pay Range - Minimum: USD $60,000.00/Yr. Pay Range - Maximum: USD $63,000.00/Yr.
