Job Summary/Description
Escorts hospital and ambulatory patients traveling by wheelchair, stretcher or hydraulic stretcher to their destinations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
Complete Daily Disinfection & Tracking Log for each patient that is escorted from one of the Patient Entry Points to their 1st appointment/destination capturing:
- Date
- Start Time
- Equipment Asset Tag #
- Type of Equipment
- Disinfectant Used
- Patient MRN#
- Destination
- Completion Time
1. Sanitize the wheelchair prior to each patient using the Wheelchair “High-Touch” Disinfection/Inspection Protocol
2. Following the Equipment Checklist for Assisting Patients on and off the wheelchair
3. Transport each patient in a timely and safe manner to the initial appointment from the Entry Point.
4. Provide courteous and professional service to all patients and their caregivers that equates to excellent customer service at all times
5. Ability to follow direction, navigate throughout the campus independently, good communication skills and great demeanor
6. Push 200 pounds + via a wheelchair
7. Minimum education: HS diploma
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma
EXPERIENCE
Required: 1 yr. Patient care experience and heavy customer service experience. Ability to push at least 200 lbs.
Preferred: Excellent customer service skills, ability to push at least 200 lbs
Please be advised that the department is expanding coverage to alternate MD Anderson locations, workers may be required to assist at locations outside of the Main Campus.
Shift: times vary, rotating weekends, some holidays.
Consistent punctuality and attendance is a MUST.
Parking is at the contractor's expense. There are multiple parking garages and lots. Please see attachment regarding parking, including rates.
Please be sure to discuss the demands of this position. It is LABOR INTENSIVE. They are on their feet the entire shift, transporting patients going through various, intensive treatments. Candidates must be willing and able to push patients via wheelchair and/or stretcher, up to 250lbs. Must be compassionate and warm, able to follow directions at ALL times.
Dress Code:
o Standard uniform (light blue polo, black scrub bottoms or black business casual pants with belt loops, comfortable shoes)
o Black belt (if wearing business casual bottoms)
o Black or white socks and non-skid sole shoes
o Black long-sleeved shirt may be worn under polo-style shirts and must be tucked into bottoms (undershirt may be any weight)
o iPhone issued by institution
o Employee ID Badge
o NOT ALLOWED:
o Buttonfront or open front jacket
o Jackets with hoods or designs
o Artificial fingernails or nail overlay (gel or acrylic)
o Artificial eyelashes
o Denim, leggings, jeggings, joggers and/or excessively tight or excessively loose (bottoms may not be folded or cuffed up)
o Undershirt with a collar or with a hood

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
