SCM Group North America is seeking an Application Specialist with skills in CAD / CAM and CNC Programming. This in an ideal opportunity for a CNC Machinist, Millwright or Operator looking to grow their career.
Essential Job Duties:
Reporting to the Digital Systems Manager, this position plays a key role in helping our customers optimize use of software systems that drive our world class industrial woodworking machinery. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and utilize strong expertise in CAD/CAM/CNC software applications in order to support SCM customer implementations, adoption and optimization of our industrial CNC woodworking machinery.
- Provides training, support, and sales demonstrations for customers.
- Utilize hands-on experience with CNC Machinery combined with expertise in SCM’s wide range of proprietary software applications.
- Creates software demonstrations on machines in a variety of formats to showcase how software drives machinery.
- Perform customer training for various CAD/CAM systems, remote and on-site.
- Hosts in-office, remote, and on-site training classes
- Develop and update training curriculum, record webinars, edit and upload videos
- Administrate remote training platform
- Perform customer software demos, time studies, and feasibility studies for CAD/CAM systems.
- Demonstrate use of various software packages in customer related setting
- Perform studies of product feasibility and efficiency compared to other industry solutions
- Partner with and provide assistance to Sales to assure customers are offered software solutions designed to best fit customer’s needs.
- Customer support for CAD/CAM systems by phone, email, and chat.
- Prepare trade show and showroom machine demonstrations on various CNC equipment.
- Recommend and test various CNC tooling to perform above tasks.
Examples of applications/machinery this person will support include:
- CAD/CAM systems include: SCM Maestro, Alphacam, Vectric Aspire, Ardis Optimizer, DDX Easywood, Fusion 360, TPA CAD
- Advanced 5-axis application training in various CAD/CAM systems, including part programming, fixture design, tooling design.
- Equipment operation/programming include: 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routers primarily, also, beam saws, bore & dowel machines, edge-banders, moulder/tennoners.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in electro-mechanics, CAD/CAM certification, CNC programming, or related discipline.
- 3+ years relevant work experience as machinist or millwright, CAD/CAM programming, CNC programming; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of CAD / CAM applications, software, and technologies. (Experience working with Maestro, Alphacam, Vectric Aspire, Ardis Optimizer, DDX Easywood, Fusion 360, TPA CAD is highly desired, not required.)
- Previous hands-on experience in operation of CNC Industrial Machinery. Knowledge of woodworking machinery preferred/not required.
- Excellent presentation/public speaking skills, with the ability to host training and presentations both to customers and colleagues.
- Excellent customer service skills, pleasant telephone demeanor, active listening, communications skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Must have full command of English language with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Must have valid driver’s license, U.S. passport, and ability to travel throughout North America up to 25% of the time and occasional international travel.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
