What we are looking for | The Role:
We are looking for an ambitious Accountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. This role will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. The right candidate will contribute to the overall efficiency of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial position.
You will make an impact by:
Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for supporting the accounting department by being able to execute and manage all accounting and financial tasks. This role will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including preparing financial reports, conducting account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, working effectively with third-party vendors, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role will need to be a detail-oriented individual with a passion for creative and detailed problem solving who is both communicative and personable. This role is perfect for someone hungry for growth, sharp, and eager to take on new challenges with a growing company.
A Day in the Life | Key Responsibilities:
Finance:
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct daily bookkeeping tasks such as recording financial transactions, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Support the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes, ensuring all entries are accurately recorded and deadlines are met.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing relevant financial data and analysis.
Accounting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Perform, manage and execute month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain and update fixed asset records.
- Perform accounts payable and receivable functions, including processing payments, preparing invoices, and managing collections.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis reporting, etc.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
Operational Support:
- Collaborate with other departments to gather and provide financial information.
- Support the Controller with special projects and ad hoc reporting.
Other Duties:
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial and employee data.
To excel in this role, ideal candidate should possess the following experience and qualities:
- Experience: 3-5 yearsprevious experience in wholesale sales, retail data analysis, or a related field is highly desirable
- Adaptability: Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Customer Service Skills: Personable, motivated, team player, and excellent customer service skills. Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating a strong work ethic, teamwork, and a customer-centric mindset.
- Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related major.
- Organization: Effective organizational, analytical, and communication skills and exceptional time management abilities.
- Platform Proficiency: Netsuite, Excel, Hubspot
