Process Development Engineer
Job Description
Exordium Engineering is looking for engineers and technical personnel who have worked with PET Stretch Blow Molding Systems. The people Exordium Engineering seek will possess not only a core technical competency, but will also have other experiences and training that allow them to more fully participate in a multidiscipline project environment.
Exordium Engineering is seeking a highly detailed person with years of experience in plastic manufacturing with high-speed stretch blow molding machines. The role of Process Development Engineer is critical to our project development, design and execution functions and our overall project success strategy.
General Functions
· Preform PET stretch blow molding machine set up, process development of new blow molded containers, and optimize existing processes.
· Optimize customer’s current processes and reduce overall energy and air consumption.
· Trouble shoot equipment mechanical issues.
· Utilize knowledge of different resins used to produce containers.
· Produce high quality containers to meet customer specifications utilizing test data gathered to ensure process is stable as well as repeatable.
· Provide training in the process field for colleagues, as well as for customers in mechanical and process set up of containers.
· Knowing if there is a process issue versus a mechanical issue. Understanding the entire picture not just bottle processing.
· Clear understanding of the inner workings of various stretch blow mold machines.
Responsibilities
· Ability to optimize high speed blow molding processes on Krones, Sidel, KHS, SIPA, and Tech Long machines.
· Develop Heat-set/Hot- fill, CSD, and water processes.
· Lab scheduling, timeline development, machine change-over, process standardization, documentation, and analytical testing.
· Technical process support in product meetings
· Coordinate with 3rd party contractors and firms get information needed to complete the process design.
· Work cross-functionally with other departments and across other engineering disciplines to detail industrial processes and systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Thorough understanding of blow molding systems.
· Willing to travel up to 80%
· Willing to work weekends
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a PET blow molding manufacturing environment, food & beverage preferred.
· Fast learner and quickly adapts to change.
· Strong mechanical/electrical/controls knowledge.
· Must be highly self-directed and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Ability to communicate both written and verbally with all levels of management and customers.
· Must be exceptionally organized and self-disciplined to accommodate the management of concurrent projects.
· Understand stretch blow molding process requirements and trouble shooting.
· Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel etc.
