The Healthcare Technician will be responsible for following guidelines and implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of all medical aspects of the company’s programs in accordance with the standards and procedures set out by the organization. As a member of the clinical team, the Healthcare Technician works with medical doctors, specialists, and other licensed medical personnel in providing direct resident care to adults residing in a detox/residential treatment program. Reporting to directly to the Medical Director and working collaboratively with the Clinical Director and Executive Director, he/she will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the company and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists with self-administration of medication policy to document and observe resident medication regimen for all residents at all levels of care
- Ensures accurate documentation on medication orders.
- Observe residents, charts and reports changes in residents’ conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and taking any necessary action.
- Answer residents’ questions regarding MD orders and determines how to assist them.
- Measures and records patients’ vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration when required.
- Maintain inventory log and requisition samples as well as instruments (drug screens, breathalyzers, etc) and communicates when inventory is low.
- Evaluate medical concerns and directs residents to emergency medical care when required.
- Works as part of a health care team to assess resident’s needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions.
- Reviews medication logs and consults with residents and physicians regarding refills.
- Assists the Medical Director in overseeing residents at Detox/Residential level, undertaking visits with them at the residential facilities if required.
- Ensure accurate documentation on medication orders entered into KIPU and confers with the Medical Director on a regular basis.
- The candidate will have extensive knowledge of the wide variety of medications that are prescribed to patients of their uses, dosage amounts and side effects and will work closely with the Medical Director to ensure patient safety.
- Facilitates educational on medication management, infection control, health and safety procedures. - Provide monitoring and supervision of residents to support non-clinical staff.
- Perform breath analysis and monitors urine test samples from residents. Documents and records results.
- Perform proper medication count and ensure documentation reflects the narc count log, at all times.
- Is responsible for the monthly first aid boxes checks and keeps staff updated of their location and ensures staff access to at least one of boxes at the facilities.
- Is responsible for maintaining ethical practices and maintain perimeters designated by scope of practice.
- Ensures infection control practices and reporting procedures are in place.
- Maintain compliance with HIPPA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures.
- Monitor resident’s vital signs and conduct observations following protocols based on resident’s admission date following policies & procedures in accordance with State Laws and regulations and Joint Commission guidelines while providing accurate and timely documentation.
