I am a quadriplegic seeking a caregiver to join my staff. You will help with my personal care in my home. Tasks depend on the shift, but they can include range of motion, hygiene, catheter care, transfer/positioning, and minor housekeeping. Training is provided. Experience with home care and/or quadriplegics is preferred.
Schedule
I provide part-time positions for my caregiving staff. I generally seek to split my weekly care (~35 hours) between 3 or 4 caregivers. Current shifts I'm trying to fill include:
Monday evenings: 7:30 PM-10 PM
Wednesday mornings: 6:30-8:30 AM
Friday mornings: 6:30-8:30 AM
Friday evenings: 9-10 PM
Saturday mornings: 8-11 AM
Saturday evenings: 9-10 PM
Sunday mornings: 8-11 AM
Sunday evenings: 7:30-10:30 PM
The shifts above are a lot of hours for a single person, so please respond with the shifts that are most appealing to you, and we can see what might work! I prefer to find caregivers that have potential flexibility to fill in for other shifts during the week on the rare occasions where that's needed. Note that for these relatively short ships of 2-3 hours, this tends to work better for people within 20-25 minutes' drive of my home (roughly Orchard & University).
This is a great opportunity for:
-Students in medicine (nursing school, etc.) seeking hands-on experience.
-Current employees in medical fields looking for consistent, part-time work outside of regular business hours.
-Anyone with prior medical experience who left the workforce, but would appreciate something part-time.
I would love to find someone who wants this as a long-term position.
Desired qualities:
Some strength for slide board transfers (no lifting needed) and repositioning
Covid vaccination is preferred due to my vulnerability with reduced lung capacity
Reliability is an **absolute** must-have
About the client:
My spinal cord injury is C4/5 level, so I have some arm mobility but no finger function. I can brush teeth, use a fork, and use a computer. Due to my lack of strength, I need help with transferring, positioning, and the other tasks mentioned above.
