Summary
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing all carpentry tasks from start to finish, demonstrating exceptional skills, and maintaining a fully equipped vehicle. The ideal candidate will bring at least 6 years of carpentry experience, a thorough understanding of residential remodeling, and a commitment to upholding high standards of workmanship. The ideal candidate will also be eager to take on project management responsibilities while remaining heavily involved in the carpentry work on the job site.
Lead Carpenter Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate exceptional carpentry skills and maintain a fully equipped vehicle with necessary tools.
- Independently perform carpentry tasks efficiently at various project sites.
- Collaborate within a team environment and manage time effectively.
- Interpret structural drawings, procure materials, and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
- Oversee all carpentry aspects from pre-construction to project completion.
- Develop and communicate carpentry plans with the team, ensuring goal-oriented progress.
- Enforce company policies regarding cleanliness, safety, and security on-site.
- Train field employees as directed and uphold high standards of workmanship.
- Ensure compliance with change order procedures and project budgets.
- Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers to review progress and objectives.
- Maintain personal safety equipment and promptly report safety concerns.
- Communicate positively with clients and redirect inquiries as necessary.
- Act as an intermediary between trade partners and clients to safeguard company interests.
- Participate in production meetings, and stay informed about industry advancements.
- Accurately record timesheets and address performance issues as needed.
- Manage employee/subcontractor timesheets in the absence of Project Managers.
- Review site deliveries, handle return materials efficiently, and stay updated on project tasks.
- Engage with neighbors and potential clients on project sites and identify marketing/sales opportunities.
Qualifications
- 6 years of carpentry experience, including exposure to all aspects of residential remodeling, or related experience and/or training.
- Exceptional carpentry skills with the ability to perform any carpentry task
- Thorough understanding of the building processes for remodels and knowledge of all applicable building codes related to a project.
- Owns a dependable fully equipped vehicle with all common power tools and a full complement of hand tools.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings and problem-solve to get the project done without supervision.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to company policies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
