Restaurant Team Member
The following Team Member positions are available: Server, Service Assistant, Bartender, Host, Line Cook/ Prep Cook, and Expediter.
Ø Server
Primary Responsibilities: To serve food, drinks, and to accommodate guests’
needs in a courteous and timely manner following Applebee’s Ten Basic Service
Steps.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Delivers food and drinks to guests using Applebee’s team delivery system (65%*).
2. Greet guests, answers questions, makes suggestions regarding food, drinks, and service (20%*).
3. Interacts verbally with all guests creating a friendly and upbeat atmosphere (15%*).
4. Relays orders to service bar and kitchen via the point-of-sale computerized
5. register system (10%*).
6. Observes guests and responds to any additional requests (10%*).
7. Presents guest check to each table and accepts a form of payment. Makes correct change and/or completes the proper charge card procedure (10%*).
8. Participates in the clearing and resetting of dining room tables (10%*).
Qualification Standards:
1. Ability to wipe down tabletops, table legs, pick up debris off of the floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
2. Transports plates, glasses, and baskets to and from dining room, service bar, and the kitchen about 30 times per shift.
3. Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills required.
4. Mobility required during the entire shift.
5. Transports glass racks and cases up to 25 pounds (such as a case of beer) up to 15 times per shift.
Physical:
Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to four
(4) hours in length. Must have good sense of balance, be able to bend and
kneel and have the ability to lift and bus pans, and trays frequently weighing
25 pounds.
Ø Service Assistant
Primary Responsibilities: Provides assistance to the service, bartending and
host/host staff to help maintain the smooth operation of guest service in the
restaurant.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Busses tables and provides assistance to servers with guest needs (40%*).
2. Interacts with all guests creating a friendly and upbeat atmosphere (15%*).
3. Carries food and drinks to all areas of the restaurant throughout the entire shift (10%*).
4. Provides refills of beverages to guest (5%*).
5. Checks and ensures the overall cleanliness of the restrooms on a routine basis (5%*).
6. Restocks bar items for bartenders, i.e., glasses, bar garnishes, ice, beer (5%*).
7. Restocks service items for servers, i.e., glasses, ice (5%*).
8. Empties trash cans when needed (5%*).
9. Participates in rolling silverware (5%*).
10. Completes assigned cleaning duties (5%*).
Qualification Standards:
1. Mobility required during the entire shift.
2. Ability to wipe down tabletops, table legs, pick up debris off of the floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
3. Capable of using knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation equipment.
4. Transports glass racks and cases (such as a case of beer) up to 25 pounds up to 15 times a shift.
Physical:
Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to four
(4) hours in length and to lift, bend, and stoop. Must have the ability to
frequently lift and carry bus tubs, trays, and other objects weighing 25
pounds or more.
Ø Bartender
Primary Responsibilities: Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
following Applebee’s specifications. Serves food and drinks to guests in a
courteous and timely manner.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water and fruit juice to prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (30%*).
2. Interacts verbally with all bar guests creating a friendly and upbeat atmosphere (20%*).
3. Serves food and drinks to all bar guests (15%*).
4. Completes assigned opening and closing side work (15%*).
5. Slices fruit and vegetable garnishes for drinks (5%*).
6. Presents guest checks to bar patrons. Makes correct change and/or completes any necessary charge card transactions (5%*).
7. Processes employee and/or manager food orders (5%*).
8. Relays food orders to kitchen via the point-of-sale computerized register system (5%).
Qualification Standards:
1. Able to operate blenders, frozen drink machines and other bar equipment.
2. Stands during entire shift.
3. Frequent immersion of hands in water every five minutes.
4. Ability to wipe down table tops, table legs, pick up debris off floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
5. Transports glass racks cases up to 25 pounds (such as a case of beer) up to 15 times per shift.
6. Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills required.
Physical:
Must have ability to remain stationary for long periods of up to four (4) hours
in length. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50
pounds.
Ø Host
Primary Responsibilities: Greets (both arriving and departing) and seats all
guests in a friendly manner and assists in maintaining the overall guest flow of
the restaurant.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Opens door for guests arriving and departing. (40%*)
2. Accommodates any special needs of guests, i.e., boosters, highchairs, disabilities. (35%*)
3. Manages the Wait List when the restaurant is full. (10%*)
4. Provides guest assistance to servers as needed. (5%*)
5. Maintains a clean and organized work area and completes cleaning as assigned. (5%*)
6. Fills out the feature board and inflates balloons. (5%*).
Qualification Standards:
1. Reading, writing and verbal communication skills required.
2. Mobility required during the entire shift.
3. Transports and carries objects (such as high chair) up to 15 pounds up to 15 times a shift.
4. Ability to wipe down tabletops, table legs, pick up debris off the floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to stand and exert a well-paced mobility for periods up to four (4) hours in length.
2. Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other employees.
Ø Line Cook/ Prep Cook
Primary Responsibilities: Completes all assigned prep work and sets up
cook’s station. Maintains product presentations, product quality and cook time
standards. Prepares all menu items according to Applebee’s Recipes, Plate
Presentations and specifications.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Prepares menu items according to Applebee’s Recipes, Plate Presentations and specifications (50%*).
2. Completes all assigned prep work (15%*).
3. Sets up workstation according to station diagram (15%*).
4. Practices sanitary and safe food handling at all times (10%*).
5. Cleans and sanitizes the work area before, during and after shift (5%*).
6. Completes assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects (5%*).
Qualification Standards:
1. Able to place plates, utensils, pans and cases on high and low shelves.
2. Reading, writing and verbal communication skills required.
3. Capable of using knives, slicing equipment and other food preparation equipment.
4. Mobility required during the entire shift.
5. Transports cases up to 50 pounds up to 20 times per day.
6. Able to respond in emergency situations to avoid imminent dangers to self and others.
Physical:
Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees, dining room
staff, and guests. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for
periods of up to six (6) hours in length. Must have the ability to lift pots, pans,
etc., up to 40 pounds in weight. Must be able to read and write to facilitate
communication. Must possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools
and equipment.
Ø Expediter
Primary Responsibilities: Coordination and consolidation for all outgoing food
items from the kitchen assuring high standards of plate presentation and food
quality.
Specific Functions and Duties:
1. Receive all incoming food orders (15%*).
2. Clock in tickets and assure ticket cook times meet or exceed our standards (20%*).
3. Communicate between the service staff and kitchen staff. (5%*)
4. Complete all plate presentations per the recipe/plate presentation specifications (30%*).
5. Pass a final quality check on the food for plate presentation, temperature, garnish and time (5%*).
6. Coordinate food delivery with food runners (20%*).
7. Set up expediter station, keeping it clean, organized and stocked throughout the shift (5%*).
Qualification Standards:
1. Mobility required during the entire shift.
2. Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills required.
3. Ability to wipe down shelves, pick debris up off the floor and wipe down counters.
4. Able to respond in emergency situations to avoid imminent danger to self and others.
Physical:
Must be able to stand and exert fast-faced mobility for up to four (4) hours in
length. Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees and
dining room staff. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move
from area to area in the kitchen. Must have good sense of balance, be able to
bend and kneel and have the ability to lift bus pans and trays frequently
weighing up to 25 pounds.
