Position Summary
The primary responsibility of a Busser is to set tables with clean linens and silverware and remove soiled dishes, glassware and silverware from the tables. Additional responsibilities include proper maintenance and cleaning of side stations, floors and furniture, promptly clean and re-set tables for use by the next guests and to stock and maintain side stations for all team members in the restaurant.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and accident prevention principles.
- Cash handling experience including making proper change for guests.
- Basic math skills necessary to make change including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must be able to multi-task well and work well under pressure.
Essential Functions
- Follow sequence of service standards and all sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of all tables, chairs and floors in the restaurant.
- Perform guest service duties as requested.
- Performs restocking in side stations and assists other team members with tasks such as rolling silverware, restocking condiment containers, and cleaning work areas.
- Practice Sanitation and Safety principles while in the kitchen and restaurant, including Health Code compliance.
- Ensure the proper conditions of all equipment and facilities, alerting management when repairs are needed.
- Maintain fast pace for customer service needs
- Multitask to eliminate work quickly by practicing good working habits including cleaning up as you go and preparing for busy hours during the slow hours.
- Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris.
- Maintain tables throughout service, clearing dishes between courses and empty glassware as necessary.
- Clearing and scraping all dishes in the side stations after clearing a table.
- Reset tables as quickly as possible after guests leave the restaurant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk swiftly for extended periods of time, bend to obtain items near the floor, carry service trays over their head, and lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
