JOB SUMMARY
This position is an afternoon shift and also assists in environmental services when needed. This position comes with a shift differential in pay.
We are looking for a Central Proccessing Technician who is a passionate team player committed to creating a fun and safe work environment. We are looking for someone with solid work history and some experience in healthcare. Our CP department is responsible for providing instrument and materials support to the clinical staff of the SurgiCenter. Performs functions associated with sterile processing of instruments and supplies and preparation of surgical suites for patient care. Assists with housekeeping activities as needed, acts as a backup to the environmental services department. Typical shifts are Monday thru Friday - 8 hour shifts. No Call, No Weekends, and No Holidays.

RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Clinical Director
Receives guidance from: OR RN, CRNA, Surgical Technologist, Materials Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES
- Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the organization.
- Contributes to the progress and development of the Quality and Risk Management Program.
- Interacts and communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
- Supports and maintains individual and team professional competence.
- Adheres to accepted sterilization/processing policies and procedures.
- Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washers and other equipment for processing items.
- Assist Anesthesia department with equipment/ materials management.
- Assist clinical staff with OR patient procedures as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of medical terminology required
Familiarity with healthcare equipment required
Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required
Certification in Central Processing preferred - Will be requried within 1 year of hire.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires cognitive, organizational and emotional ability to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines, challenging situations and/or customers. Require language skills adequate for written and interpersonal communications in American English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response to inventory needs and monitoring and inspection duties. Ability to move quickly in response to needs of the surgical team. Ability to work overhead and low reaching, bending and ability to exert force of up to 70 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently and/or up to 10 lbs constantly and in changing environmental conditions. Ability to perform Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation if indicated.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, exposure to chemical and/or radiation hazards.
