Associate Optometrist
Eyes on Lincoln is a private practice optometry group. Winner of the 2018 Community Champion Award, we’re a locally owned and operated business focusing on great patient care with full range of diagnostic equipment that includes: Optos, OCT, VF, Fundus Photos, Topography, AR, iCare tonometry, and more. Full tech support is provided. We practice full scope optometry from routine examinations, glaucoma, emergency appointments and contact lens fittings. We are seeking someone who loves to work in a teamwork type of environment and someone who wants to challenge themselves clinically. POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Optometrist functions as the primary eye care provider for the practice. This includes growing into a leadership role, mentoring and educating staff members, and aligning with our vision of being the most loved and trusted eye care practice in the community.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Conduct full-scope ethical eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation.
- Diagnose and medically treat ocular disease.
- Properly prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses.
- Properly fit and prescribe contact lenses.
- Help coordinate emergency referrals to specialists.
- Effectively communicate with optical associates to maximize optical sales through proper education.
- Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
- Answer questions and provide advice to patient community regarding vision and overall ocular health.
- Establish an excellent doctor/patient relationship which will foster a high patient retention rate and build a strong patient base.
- Provide guidance and leadership to fellow staff members and work well in a group setting while fostering a positive work culture.
- Assist in the development of the overall practice through accountability and driving results.

KEY COMPETENCIES

- Ability to maintain confidentiality with staff members and patients; HIPAA compliant
- Collaborate with doctors by keeping a finger ‘on the pulse’ of patient experience
- Keep current with optometric technology and research to best serve the patients
- Accurately code eye examinations and procedures in coordination with office billing and insurance protocols.
- Follows all company policy and procedures to ensure safety and security of the business.
- Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the building.
- Proper interpretation and reporting of diagnostic testing including OCT, VF, topography, pachymetry, retinal and anterior segment photography, punctal plug insertion, corneal and conjunctival FB removal, K epithelial debridement and meibomian gland expression.
Specialty Contact Lens Fittings/Services welcome.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Doctorate in Optometry by an accredited college required
- Active Rhode Island State Optometry License
- We can help with Licensing if needed
- Meets all required state standards for COPE approved hours of continuing education
