Duties
- Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel facility
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their specific needs
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Monitor animals for any signs of illness or distress and report to veterinary staff
- Assist with grooming and bathing of animals as needed
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment
Skills
- Animal restraint: Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Customer service: Excellent interpersonal skills to provide friendly and professional service to pet owners
- Veterinary assistant: Basic knowledge of veterinary procedures and terminology
- Heavy lifting: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects such as bags of food or large dogs
- Kennel: Familiarity with kennel operations and best practices for animal care
- Animal care: Understanding of basic animal care needs, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Veterinary technician: Knowledge of veterinary medical procedures and ability to assist with medical treatments
- Dog training: Experience or knowledge in dog training techniques is a plus
- Pet care: Understanding of the needs and behaviors of different types of pets
- Dog handling: Ability to safely handle dogs on leashes or in off-leash environments
Note: Prior experience working in a kennel or veterinary setting is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
