Primary Responsibilities:
The Collection Control Clerk is responsible for the daily clerical work within the department along with handling collection accounts between the delinquency range of 1 – 29 days. The Control Clerk will collaborate with members and provide them alternative solutions to cure their delinquency. The primary objective is to maintain the loan portfolio at a status to minimize loan losses.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for the daily clerical workload produced by the Collection Manager and Collection Control Officer(s), which includes scanning letters and other correspondence into the member’s collection file.
- Obtaining loan folders for the control officers and manager.
- Assist in processing the end of the month charge offs. Identify, track, and assign accounts to collection agencies.
- Responsible to provide positive member experiences at every touch point (in person, over the phone, etc.).
- Provide members with general information concerning the credit union, its products, services, and policies. Refer members to the appropriate department for proper handling of questions/concerns, as necessary.
- Have knowledge of the credit union collection system to a point where minimum assistance is required from other collection staff members or other departments.
- Prepare and process necessary documentation related to resolving disputes on loan payments, next due dates, and past due amounts via payment spreadsheet, as warranted.
- Assist with securing the Collection department for closing (4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:00 p.m. on Friday). Assure loan folders, correspondence, checks, etc. are filed in the storage room and door securely locked.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum one year clerical experience.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Must have knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Type 30 words per minute and operate a 10 Key with minimal or no errors.
- Must be organized and able to meet deadlines with the ability to work independently daily with minimum supervision.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Must be able to communicate (both oral and in written form) effectively and professionally.
