Datacenter/Fiber Break-Fix Field Service Technician (On-Call Basis)
Overview: We are looking for Datacenter/Fiber Break-Fix Field Service Technician (On-Call Basis) having extensive experience in Data Center Break-Fix activities, Fiber-Optics, Tracing, Splicing, running a Fiber Cable and fault finding. Also have a hands-on experience in server up-gradation, Hard drive swap, and NIC Cards replacements. Having worked with OTDR Scope and Video scopes. Have a good understanding of the Bend radius of Fiber cable. Someone who has been to Data Center facilities for at least a year and aware of the working ethics and Do’s & Don’ts of a Data Center. Tech should own a Car (Reliable Vehicle) to travel to job site/s.
Responsibilities:
- Support field dispatch team in replacing Cameras AOS shelf sensors Gates and POS troubleshooting.
- Work to be performed mainly in a retail setting after hours and on weekends.
- Tech is required to update the customers’ ticketing system in real time and escalate as needed.
- Tech to be proficient in following run books and SOP’s and working independently.
- Good understanding of Low voltage & IT principles such as networks, hardware, ITIL methodology
- Tech should have POS and telecom experience.
- Technician should be proficient in windows and Office applications.
- Basic Technology Installation Experience needed (Primary Telecom, Networking and Security)
- Some formalized technology training/education/certification(s) or equivalent on the job experience
- Responsible for splicing new lines into the network grid, installing them above ground on poles or underground, and repairing existing lines. Telephone/Internet Service Provider deployments and troubleshooting (telephone installer), rack, and stack of the equipment/cable.
- Measuring the signal strength of television, telephone and internet connections to ensure that there is adequate performance.
- Creating sensors and performing inspections to make sure that the fiber optic systems do not have defects that could undermine performance.
- Conducting regular inspections of the systems with the aim of locating and repairing any defects detected during the inspections.
- Performing premises cabling and running fiber optic cables underground and underwater.
- Determining solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the fiber optic systems from performing optimally.
- Constructing a proper slice case as well as preparing and maintaining records, diagrams and schematics relating to the splice case.
Minimum Qualifications:
· 2-3 years of fiber optic experience (install, maintain, and repair telecommunication networks for internet, television, and phone services).
- A valid driver's license is required and reliable transportation to job sites on a daily basis
- Must have their own PPE and Basic hand tools for cabling technicians (hard hat, safety glasses, etc)
- Must be local or within 50 miles of location
- Must be capable of getting ladders, lifting boxes, materials, etc.
- Must enjoy the inconstancies of installing and troubleshooting a diverse product set of technologies
- Must be willing to travel to client
- Must be capable and comfortable using a ladder and the tools required for the installation of cabling and technology systems independently
- Some light handyman/construction and/or other trade experience is desired
