Job Title: Food and Nutrition Program Assistant

As a Food and Nutrition Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Senior Director of the Food and Nutrition Department in the planning, coordination, and execution of various initiatives aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and enhancing nutritional well-being. This position involves administrative tasks, program coordination, and active participation in community-based nutrition programs. Additionally, they will take on food service supervisor duties, including overseeing kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, and managing daily operations, as needed.

Administrative Support:

Provide administrative assistance to the Food and Nutrition Program Manager, including scheduling, documentation, and data entry.

Maintain organized records of program participants, events, and resources.

Program Coordination:

Assist in coordinating food and nutrition programs, workshops, and events.

Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop program schedules and ensure timely execution.

Community Engagement:

Engage with community members to promote awareness of food and nutrition programs.

Assist in developing and maintaining positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.

Nutritional Education:

Assist in the preparation and dissemination of educational materials related to nutrition and healthy eating.

Support the delivery of nutrition education sessions and workshops.

Food Service Supervision:

Supervise kitchen staff in daily operations, including food preparation, serving, and cleaning.

Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.

Oversee inventory management and procurement of food supplies.

Resource Management:

Assist in managing and maintaining program resources, including food supplies, educational materials, and equipment.

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement as needed.

Data Collection and Reporting:

Collect and compile data related to program participation, outcomes, and feedback.

Assist in the preparation of regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Event Logistics:

Support the planning and execution of nutritional events, ensuring all logistics are coordinated efficiently.

Assist in setting up and dismantling event spaces.

Communication:

Respond to inquiries from program participants and community members.

Assist in promoting programs through various communication channels, including social media and community newsletters.

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Previous experience in program coordination or administrative roles is desirable.

Basic knowledge of nutrition principles and a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team and engage effectively with diverse communities.

NYC Food Handlers Certification preferred

Travel Requirements- Travel across the five boroughs is required for supervision of meal programs at residential locations.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift boxes of food and beverages as needed, up to 50 lbs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
