Key Responsibilities
Careline Medical Assistants perform routine diagnostic/clinical procedures and tests under the direction of a provider in the field and provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Additionally, the Medical Assistant is responsible for driving and ensuring all equipment, bags, supplies and vehicle he/she is driving is adequately maintained at all times.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Performing routine diagnostic/clinical procedures and tests under the direction of a provider
- Providing data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
- Ensuring the safety of the patient and self by providing a clean, safe working environment
- Checking electronic charts for proper documentation necessary for daily visits
- Determining proper follow up assessments according to patient need and best practice guidelines
- Securing patient signatures on necessary documents and properly documenting in EMR
- Performing routine inventory of supplies and present list of needed supplies/equipment to supervisor
- Performing and documenting blood pressure, respirations, temperature, blood glucose levels, pulse oximetry findings, and any other baseline vitals when necessary.
- Administering injections, including influenza and pneumonia vaccinations, TB tests, and B12 injections
- Preparing laboratory requisitions and specimens for shipment or pick up
- Clearly communicating directions to patient in a professional and empathetic manner
- Explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, and providers’ instructions to patients, as well as the paperwork at the initial visit.
- When in the office, provide back-up assistance for other clerical positions and perform routine office support duties including answering phones, attaching documents, creating new patient packets, and other duties as assigned to assist the needs of the office.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
- Clinical experience
- Ability to perform phlebotomy, obtain patient vitals, and give injections
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to lift at least 35lbs and bear the weight of an average adult effectively
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate in Medical Assisting and/or Phlebotomy preferred
- Experience with geriatric patients preferred.
- Familiarity with Aprima EMR

Hours
- Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
