A Material Planner, similar to a purchasing agent, has the responsibility of buying products and services for their organization or for third parties. What purchasers buy could include manufacturing and production materials, office and plant supplies or services. Their duties include planning of purchase orders, creating purchase orders, cycle counts, record keeping and tracking of inbound orders.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic purchasing of raw materials for manufacture of mattresses and
mattress foundations.
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to the requirement list and recommends alternatives.
- Determining quantities and timing of material deliveries while continuously
evaluating vendor relationships.
- Researching and implementing cost-saving initiatives to attain and enhance
corporate goals.
- Monitoring and forecasting upcoming levels of Raw Materials.
Ensuring that daily, end of month, end of quarter, cycle, and physical counts of inventory are accurately performed.
- Ensuring ongoing inventory has been accurately tracked in operating system.
Cycle counts and inventory adjustments in operating system.
- Working closely with Receiving Manager to ensure materials are accurately
received as ordered into the operating system.
- Completing all other projects as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills

Two years purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting

Excellent Communication skills

Computer Skills with knowledge of excel, and other office products

Ability to maintain accurate perpetual inventory
