The Program Director is responsible for providing leadership, overseeing daily operations, delivery of services, program development, and maintenance of all operations at Shepherd House. The Program Director supports the staff in providing a trauma-informed environment that is rooted in providing harm reduction, person-centered services to clients with a history of substance use disorder and mental health. The Program Director reports to the Deputy Director of Recovery Services, or their designee for supervision.
Location: Shepherd House is a 4-8 month residential treatment program for 32 women with substance use disorders in Dorchester providing a bridge between treatment and reintegration into community living.
Essential Functions:

Oversee the planning, direction and all day to day program operations.

Ensure that the program is in compliance with all agency, statutory and contractual requirements, and that policies are being observed and administered by the staff. Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence at all times, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.

Ensure implementation of best practices and compliance with Victory Programs’ Philosophy of Care.

Implement and monitor program standards of care and best practices.

Manage program’s staffing needs, including hiring, promotions, terminations, and ensure employees are receiving proper supervision.

Ensure that the program is running smoothly and incorporating the agency’s philosophy of care, including a harm reduction perspective.

Collaborate with the Clinical Director, Medical staff, Intake Coordinator, and other Victory Programs administrative staff to ensure that program planning, management and evaluation requirements are met.

Work with the finance department to complete budgets, approve accounts payable, and monitor financial statements to stay within budget.

Manage relationships with partner agencies providing psychiatric and therapy services to the Women’s Hope Program.

Ensure all requested/required reports are prepared and submitted in a timely and accurate manner.

Maintain a collaborative relationship with internal and external contacts, including working closely with Shattuck Hospital administration and other psychiatric providers and linkages.

Work closely with the Clinical Director to ensure that clients are receiving high quality, individualized substance use and mental/behavioral health treatment.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date client charts by utilizing the Electronic Health Record Systems.

Ensure that 24/7 staff coverage is maintained.

Provide on-call support to the program as needed.

Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate assigned program staff.

Facilitate weekly staff meetings.

Participate in monthly leadership meetings.
Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Social Work or in related field strongly preferred.

Clinical licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LADAC, CADC) strongly preferred.

A minimum of three years of supervisory experience to an interdisciplinary team in mental health and/or substance use residential setting.

Experience working with individuals with co-occurring (serious mental illness and substance use) diagnoses.

Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to work independently yet always as a member of a treatment team.

Ability to relate to residents in an instructive, supportive and compassionate manner.

Strong organizational, writing and communication skills.

Three strong work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.

Current CPR certification (may be obtained upon hire)

Complete TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
