Position Summary: This will be a hybrid position based in Dallas or Atlanta. The Sr. Grants Manager will be at the forefront of the grantmaking process. This role will spearhead the grantmaking process from start to finish, developing
RFPs, evaluating applications, and cultivating collaborative relationships with grantees.
Responsibilities will include proposal development, grantee research, financial due
diligence, overseeing KPI tracking processes, and providing detailed reports to stakeholders
and funders.
This position will work collaboratively with staff across the Foundation, while collaborating
with key stakeholders, to ensure timely and thorough completion of all stages of
workflows from initial inquiry and application to award, payment, reporting, and closeout.
The Sr. Grants Manager ensures data integrity, facilitates the use of technology to support
grantmaking, and provides transparency and accessibility about grants information for staff
and external partners.
Additionally, this position will seek to cultivate relationships with grantees to discover other
avenues for collaboration, helping to build deeper partnerships that increase the
Foundation’s capacity for good.
Key Responsibilities:
Grantmaking Strategy & Process:

Collaborate with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive grantmaking
strategy, building timelines, requests for proposal, impact reporting
procedures, etc. -
Build a framework for grantmaking procedures, driving process alongside
internal and external stakeholders. -
Manage day-to-day grants process, including application intake, review,
award, reporting, and close out, in a timely manner. -
Work in partnership with Senior Director of Strategy and Senior Leadership
Team to improve and innovate processes and policies. -
Participate and learn from the broader philanthropic learning community of
grants management professionals. -
Provide project support to Senior Director of Strategy as assigned; initiate and
oversee other activities and projects as assigned.
Grantee Research and Due Diligence:

Identify fundable projects, programs, and organizations that are aligned with
the strategic goals and KPIs of the T.D. Jakes Foundation. -
Maintain and safeguard accurate records of all applications, due diligence,
impact measuring, data, and any other supporting materials or documents. -
Review and grade funding applications, summarizing materials and providing
recommendations to senior leadership. -
Conduct due diligence and ensure compliant grantmaking.
Grantee Management and Compliance:

Monitor and track the status of applications, awards, and reporting deadlines.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary
information and ensure timely and accurate submission of progress reports
and financial report. -
Communicates with applicants and grantee partners to facilitate their
relationship with the Foundation and the use of the Foundation’s online
systems.
Relationship Management:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with grantees, identifying collaborative
opportunities with internal departments and programs. -
Serve as the primary point of contact for grantmaking-related inquiries and
communications.
Data Management and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of grantee activities and outcomes in the
organization's database. -
Prepare regular reports for senior management and board members on
grantee progress and outcomes. -
Provide data reporting and analysis for internal and external audiences.

Create and maintain integrity of electronic grant files that meet legal,
auditing, and other internal requirements.
Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the program, finance, and communications teams to align
grant efforts with organizational strategies. -
Provide guidance and support to staff on grant-related issues and best
practices. -
Document and train staff in grants procedures.

Participate in work of the Senior Leadership team to ensure alignment with
Foundation strategy.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

5 + years of relevant experience with managing grant portfolios, in foundation grants management (preferred), or managing grants at a grantseeking or other grantmaking institutions.

Proven track record of successful grant proposals and fundraising efforts.

Strong understanding of grant processes, including proposal writing, budgeting, and reporting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in using grant management software and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SalesForce.

Knowledge of the specific industry or sector the organization operates within (e.g., education, health, environment).

Work Environment:

This position may require occasional travel for funder meetings and conferences.
