What YOU will do:
As a Sustainment Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the continued operational effectiveness and reliability of our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, implement maintenance strategies, and develop solutions to enhance the lifespan and performance of our products. You will work with R&D Engineering to enhance our products with new design ideas. You will troubleshoot electronics and software. You will help create test plans and test equipment to ensure our customers receive products of the highest quality. Your expertise will be crucial in sustaining the producibility of our products, minimizing downtime, and optimizing resource utilization. This position will be located in our Hope Hull Manufacturing Center of Excellence. Your skills will play a pivotal role to integrate our rugged computing solutions across the world.
Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Troubleshoot electronics to the component level.
- Design test software for automated and manual acceptance test procedures.
- Perform Failure Analysis of returned products (electronical, software, mechanical).
- Troubleshoot systems and perform root cause analysis.
- Write acceptance test procedures.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing and test technicians.
- Recommend changes to products for design for manufacturing and design for test improvement with innovative solutions.
- Provide technical customer support.
- Solve component end-of-life issues with detailed analysis of replacement parts or design changes.
- Evaluate and recommend replacement electronics components.
- Provide technical support to contract manufactures of electronics.
- Travels as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of electronics and circuit boards.
- Firmware and software programming experience.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS.
- Knowledge of automated testing equipment is desired.
- Understanding of scripting tools for software automation.
- Understanding of microcontrollers/processors.
- Understanding of communication standards such as Ethernet, RS232, USB.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with solid prioritization skills.
- Strong multitasker with experience handling multiple dynamic tasks at once.
- Fluency in English; strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position environment is neutral with low to moderate noise exposure, is a seated position requiring the extended use of a computer and computer equipment. Position may infrequently be required to move equipment and other machinery up to 50 pounds across a room. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
