Forsberg & Umlauf, a premier litigation defense firm in downtown Seattle, is seeking an accounting assistant to join our accounting team. This role will primarily work in e-billing, and accounts payable.
We are seeking candidates who are eager to learn and grow their career in accounting or finance. Prior experience in an office or other professional environment is required. We are open to junior candidates who are willing to train.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Generate WIP and A/R reports.
- Track status of e-billed invoices.
- Identify and resolve billing inaccuracies, missing budgets or missing matters within E-Billing System. Coordinate with adjusters/attorneys to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Revise and resubmit short-paid and rejected invoices.
- Review time entries on pre-bills and requesting revisions of insufficient entries.
- Determine e-billed expenses and fees that were short-paid or rejected and cannot be recovered.
- Process edits of attorney billable time entries.
- Transfer attorney time between client-matters.
- Participate in customer support processes.
- Gather and organize supporting documentation for expense charges.
- Assist in preparing and posting pre-bills and bills.
- Prepare and submit billing appeals and tracking status with attorney and adjuster.
- Review billing rates on a regular basis to ensure compliance with client agreements and annual rate increases.
- Submit write offs to Finance Manager.
- Work with accounting team and attorneys to resolve A/R and collections issues.
- Run conflict checks for new cases openings.
- Assist with other monthly billing administrative tasks.
- Cross train in other accounting functions as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
- 1 - 2 years accounting or finance experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
- Prior experience in a professional services environment required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong typing skills
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with accounting software, TABS 3 preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel
