Supervise dental students in educational activities at WesternU College of Dental Medicine according to standards of the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) primarily in the preclinical setting.

Required Qualifications
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent.
Active California dental license or be qualified to obtain licensure or faculty special permit in
California.
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Must maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
1. Completion of a CODA-accredited Prosthodontics residency program.
2. Specialty Board Certification or Eligibility
3. Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience.
4. Experience in supervising students and/or residents in a preclinical and/or clinical academic setting
Essential Job Duties
Key Responsabilities
Teaching
1. Supervise, assist, and teach students in diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of all phases of general dentistry including digital dentistry, removable prosthodontics, endodontics, surgical extractions, and treatment of medically complex patients, primarily in a preclinical environment.
2. Provide instruction and supervise oral health care in a peer-to-peer clinical setting.
3. Serve as a role model and mentor for students, providing feedback on individual performance and resources for improvement as appropriate.
4. Mentor assigned dental students, primarily from the D1 and D2 year classes, through role modeling professionalism, advising, teaching, facilitating group discussion, and providing assessment in the preclinical program.
5. Maintain calibration with and set an example for students by following CDM clinical and administrative protocols and procedures.
6. Assist with the implementation of an efficient, educational program by creating simulation assignments and learning activities in area of expertise or interest, that supports the educational mission and financial objectives of the College.
7. Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.
8. Set an example of professional and humanistic behavior.
9. Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Work Schedule
Usual hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm with the possibility of an earlier or later start time. Evening or weekends may be required. Maybe be required to travel to CDM sites including but not limited to sites located in Pomona, El Monte, Chino Hills, and Rancho Mirage.

Duties are routinely performed in an environmentally controlled interior healthcare office. Work environment may involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials, e.g., blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, and ionizing radiation. Clinical environments require compliance with safety precautions, OSHA Blood borne pathogen training, and may include the use of certain personal protective equipment.
Duties are normally performed in a simulation clinic and classroom. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate due to the open design of the simulation clinic.
