About the State Fair of Texas
Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with proceeds helping to preserve and improve our home, Fair Park; underwrite museums, community initiatives, and scholarship programs to support students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education; and help improve State Fair operations.
SUMMARY
Assisting with all needs related to special events held in the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center. Ensuring that events run smoothly and professionally. Administrative duties are also a part of this responsibility. Interact/serve Department customers/clientele inquiries on phone calls and in person.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions

Acts as an assistant to the Administrative Coordinator.

Coordinating with vendors, caterers, bar staff, event staff, and others.

Oversee and facilitate room layout and contest set ups.

Serve a wide array of Department customers/clientele inquiries regarding competitions, volunteer duties, and associated activities; receive, resolve, and respond to all inquiries, or transfer to the appropriate individual or department.

Provide support to all departmental staff and SFT as required.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding and alignment with the core values of the State Fair of Texas.

Excellent customer service skills.

Event Management experience.
-
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
-
High School Diploma or higher level of education.

Oral and written communication.
License or Certificate:
-
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas driver's license.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED and EXERCISED
-
Reports to Livestock Administrative Coordinator
-
Work independently with minimal supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
-
Working outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, as necessary, especially during Fair time and special events.
Physical Conditions:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for:
-
Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
-
Moving short and long distances to access office supplies, meet guests, perform duties within Fairgrounds, etc.

Verbally communicate with both internal and external contacts.
-
Occasionally lift objects no more than 25 pounds unassisted.
Work Schedule:
-
Ability to work on non-fair days with hours varying between 7:00am-7:00pm, August thru November 2024.

Ability to work the 24 days of the fair, September 27,2024 through and including October 20, 2024. Hours will vary depending on events.
