The Johnson STEM Activity Center (JSAC), a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization focused on empowering underserved students through STEM, is seeking a part-time Education Specialist/Outreach Coordinator to perform outreach activities for its programs.
This role will be responsible for organizing, managing and conducting outreach activities to various metro Atlanta schools, primarily within the Atlanta Public School system and be in regular communication with school administrators, STEM coordinators, students, JSAC coaches and the JSAC leadership team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be skilled at captivating students’ interest and imagination. A minimum four (4) years teaching experience in grades K-12 and a Bachelor’s degree required. Teaching experience in underserved communities a plus. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities include:
- Design workshops and other outreach activities.
- Prepare and assemble educational materials/supplies.
- Plan, coordinate and schedule outreach related events both at schools and at the STEM center.
- Conduct tours and coordinate activities at JSAC's facility.
- Create and maintain databases related to outreach efforts.
