Connecticut Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Director, of Global Sourcing to join our team. As Director, you'll lay out the foundational sourcing strategy for our supply chains. You will have both a day-to-day and strategic ongoing impact on our financials, supply chains and risk management as well. You will cultivate strong relationships with our suppliers as well as uncover and develop new sources for us, as well!
Primary Responsibilities:
Create Data-Driven Strategies
You'll review and evaluate spend data together with Purchasing and Marketing teams to capture commodity market data and create comprehensive supply chain market intelligence reports. You'll work with Marketing, Sales and Engineering teams to obtain and validate commodity sourcing requirements so to develop annual and long-term category & supplier strategies.
Supplier Base Management
You'll review & manage existing supplier performance together with our purchasing team, and other cross -functional teams. You'll develop long-term partnership with good performing suppliers and improve or exit poor performing suppliers.
You'll negotiatewith suppliers including but limit to contract, cost, inventory, resource, and service etc. You will also manage or support regular communication such as routine business calls/meetings, risk mitigation, QBR, NPD etc. Cultivate supplier relationships up to the executive level(s) of the supplier(s).
Drive Cost Savings and Operating Income Improvement
You will manage category cost strategies and develop/maintain the tools for Should Cost Modeling analysis. In addition you;ll be working with internal cross-functional teams and suppliers on the VAVE projects for cost reduction/saving opportunities. Propose the annual cost saving/reduction budget.
Risk Management
Track and address various risks of the assigned commodities including shortages, inflation, lifecycle, lead time changes, sole/single source, tariff mitigation, Force Majeures, and other events to ensure supply continuity.
Identify and mitigate the risks at suppliers to avoid/reduce the negative impacts to business
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Electronic -Electrical Engineering or Supply Chain/Business Management-based discipline.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of working experience in strategic sourcing or category management in Electronic-Electrical commodity/supply chain. People manager experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of global electronics-electrical supply chain, category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
- Prior experience with ERP systems is not requird but will speed up your learning curve.
- Strong knowledge of should-cost modeling linked with electronic-electrical manufacturing industrial cable and assembly, circuit breakers, switches, panel/box build and full system integration assembly.
- Knowledge and experience of project management to support NPI/NPD/VAVE are desired
- Strong negotiation skills to negotiate contract/ pricing/ lead time etc.
- Strong communication, persuasion, presentation, and interpersonal skills at all levels of the business; ability to build and sustain trusting relationships internally and externally
- Willing and able to travel internationally and domestically up to 30% of the working time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
